Inner Child Work and Emotional Triggers
This is the kind of issue that inner child work can really help with. When something triggers these young parts of us, they can take over and we suddenly find ourselves behaving really differently than our usual adult selves.
This can be incredibly frustrating as we resolve to stay calm and not overreact and yet find ourselves falling into the same patterns again and again.
For some of us it’s within our romantic relationships that we get most triggered, for others it comes up in a work context, just when we are most wanting to present as a professional that has it all together. For very many of us it’s both of these, as well as many other contexts such as visits to family, doctors appointments, learning environments and social gatherings.
There is a lot we can do to help. The key is getting to know and heal these young parts of you that get triggered. When we get to know them in a guided session we can really help them to come out of the time in the past where they are frozen and release the pain that they’re carrying.
