Katie KnightA warm, caring and experienced counselor in BerlinOver my 15 years as a counselor so far I’ve been passionate about finding what works to truly help people get unstuck and feel better.
With so many people’s experiences of therapy being a bit hit-and-miss in terms of how helpful it is to them, it has always been important to me to discover how therapy can have a powerful transformative impact on people seeking help. |

Suffering with severe depression and anxiety as a teen and young adult left me with a keen awareness of how devastating this is and how difficult it is to get through it without help. Since then helping people who are suffering emotionally has felt like the most important calling in life. |
For my first few years in the world of counseling and therapy I was amazed by how much I learned about how to help myself and other people to heal and grow. As a client at first I really appreciated:
But at the same time I was disappointed about the limits of how helpful it seemed therapy could be. It seemed like a lot of counseling was just listening empathically or giving people worksheets to do at home, this didn’t seem like enough to me. I felt frustrated that therapy wasn’t really doing anything actively during the session. A part of me believed that more powerful inner healing must be possible. |
As I got to know my colleagues around me I noticed that many of us were feeling the same, we were giving clients worksheets that we didn’t use or find helpful in our own lives. We were trying to offer the unconditional acceptance that would help clients to feel good enough in themselves, whilst still feeling unworthy within ourselves.
I wish I had known earlier that therapy can be so much more than this. Discovering the deeper inner healing that is available through approaches like IFS (Internal Family Systems), inner-child work and trauma release my first thought was:
“Why doesn’t everyone know about this?”
It was amazing to see trauma and pain finally being released and life-long stuck patterns changing - and all without conscious effort.
It was wonderful to finally know how to offer effective help to people. I’d like as many people as possible to experience the benefits of transformative inner healing. I have dedicated my career to guiding people through this profound inner journey of healing. As a therapist I embrace the following philosophies:
I work best with people who are tired of being stuck and are ready to really dive into this healing journey with me. I am excited to guide you through this process. The main approach I use is called Internal Family Systems, you can find out more about this highly effective, evidence-based approach here. |
